Photomontage Klutsis Spartakiada Football

£950.00

Original photomontage collage study for a Spartakiada sports competition in the style of Gustav Klutsis. This unsigned handmade collage features black and white cut-outs from the Soviet 1920s period publications and is themed on football. Gustav Klutsis produced a series of postcards for Spartakiada sports games in Moscow and these sheets could be a study for postcard design, book illustration,or a poster. We acquired the whole set from a private seller in Latvia who purchased them in Germany from a private collection along with some other paintings and sketches from the 1920s-1930s. Based on our expertise,we believe it to be a genuine period original artwork. Very good condition, light paper toning, small stains. Top edge uneven and has signs of tearing as if the page was removed from an album. Edges of the paper show signs of gilding.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
