"Around the World" the oldest Russian and Soviet magazine focusing on popular science and geography,history,world culture,published since 1861. Cover illustration by Alexander Vasiliev,Soviet theatre artist,Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1963),People's Artist of the RSFSR (1975),Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1973). In 1959,at the World Exhibition in Brussels,Alexander was awarded the Grand Prix for the panel “Russian and Soviet Opera”. In 1962-66,he became the head of the section of theatre and cinema artists of the Moscow Union of Artists,and from 1966,he served as secretary of the board of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Since 1980,he was president of the Soviet Center of the International Association of Stage Designers and Theatre Technologists. List of this issue's artwork included illustrations by A Besperstov for the story "Relka",E Fisher for the story "Before the Finish Line",A Minchikovsky for the story "Head Fire",A Markichev for the story "Osada". Published by "Komsomolskaya Pravda",1932. Good condition. Frayed spine. Rubbings,staining,semi-detached cover. Pencil handwriting on the back cover. 24 pages.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
