Issue № 12 of "Ogonek",Soviet sociopolitical and literary-artistic illustrated weekly magazine,one of the oldest in Soviet history. Edited by Mikhail Koltsov,Soviet Journalist,Bolshevik Revolutionary and an NKVD Agent,Koltsov founded popular magazines such as "Krokodil","Chudak","Sovetskoe Foto" and "Ogonek". Frontcover photo was taken by Otto Shmidt and depicts a portrait of G Zinoviev,a Permanent Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Communist International. This issue's articles include "In the House of the Comintern" written by M Tarlovsky,"Diary of Nicolay the Second" by I Poltavsky,"Old Man" by A Tersky. Photos taken by O Schmidt were accompanying articles throughout the magazines. Otto Yulyevich Shmidt was a Soviet scientist,mathematician,astronomer,geophysicist,statesman,academician,Hero of the USSR (27 June 1937),and member of the Communist Party. Published by the publishing house "Mospoligraph". Poor condition. Frayed spine,loss of material on margins,prominent staining and rubbings. Pencil remarks on the front cover.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
