The Latvian National Museum of Art,Riga has published an illustrated two-volume edition,a unique compilation of primary sources in Latvian and English dedicated to Gustav Klutsis (1895 - 1938),a pioneering Latvian photographer and a major member of the Constructivist avant-garde in the early 20th century. He is known for the Soviet revolutionary and Stalinist propaganda he produced with his wife Valentina Kulagina and for the development of photomontage techniques. In 1959 Valentina Kulagina donated to the museum a significant part of the creative heritage of the artist: more than 350 works of art (photomontages,drawings and design projects of the constructive period,posters,samples of book designs,watercolours),photographs,and the artist's sketch album. Volume I includes essays and articles by researchers on the most important aspects of Gustav Klutsis work,such as "Gustav Klucis and Constructivism" by Christina Lodder,professor of art history at the University of Kent and more than 150 of the artist's best-known works. Published by Neputns,Riga,418 pages. Excellent condition. Volume II,the Scientific Catalogue (Zinātniskajā katalogā) provides information on 547 works of art,supplemented by the compiler's comments on their creation. Published by Neputns,Riga,320 pages. Very good condition,minor stain.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
