Original vintage newspaper Baltiec / Baltic #61 Sunday 1 May 1938. The Soviet three-day newspaper of workers and employees of the Baltic Shipbuilding and Mechanical Factory in the name of Sergo Ordzhonikidze,published by the party committee and factory committee of the factory. This issue is dedicated to International Workers' Day and features a drawing of the parade with portraits of Lenin and Stalin. Includes articles about the achievements of the USSR; a poem by Vasily Lebedev-Kumach,a Soviet poet and lyricist; an appeal to the working classes of Spain and China with a portrait of 'El Campesino',the communist officer Valentin Gonzalez; about Zhu De,a Chinese general,military strategist,politician and revolutionary in the Chinese Communist Party; icebreaker Ermak,which in 1938 took part in the evacuation of polar explorers from the North Pole-1 station. The winterers rescued by the Taimyr icebreaker went to Ermak. Printed by the publishing house Pravda,Leningrad,4 pages. Poor condition,part of the page is cut out,tears,browning,folded in half.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
