Original vintage Soviet constructivist magazine Science and Technology Nauka i Tehnika #9 February 1930. Nauka i Tehnika was a monthly magazine on scientific and technical breakthroughs in the USSR. The cover features a photograph of extinguishing a gas fountain in Baku. The issue includes articles about a fire at the Azneft fields at the Bibi-Heybat oil and gas condensate field in Baku,which happened in 1925 and its extinguishing; phosphorus deposits in Apatity,Khibiny; submarine Surcouf,a large French gun-armed cruiser submarine of the mid 20th century; penetration of a probe into the heart; architectural excavations to search for the ship of of the Roman emperor Caligula near lake Nemi in Italy. There were two ships in Nemi,one larger than the other. Recovered from the lake bed in 1929,the ships were destroyed by fire in 1944 during World War II; flight to South America and discovery of the ruins of the ancient Maya civilization in Central America on the Yucatan Peninsula by Charles Lindbergh,an American aviator,military officer,author,inventor,and activist; new Soviet and foreign scientific inventions; the use of activated carbon; and others,accompanied by illustrations and schemes.
