Original vintage Constructivist film magazine Soviet Screen Sovetsky Ekran #40 October 1927. It was a weekly magazine on recent developments in film in the USSR. The cover features a still from the movie October: Ten Days That Shook the World (Oktyabr': Desyat' dney kotorye potryasli mir),a 1927 Soviet silent historical film by Sergei Eisenstein and Grigori Aleksandrov,produced by Sovkino. It is a celebratory dramatization of the 1917 October Revolution commissioned for the tenth anniversary of the event; the back cover features a still from the film Trial mobilization (Probnaja mobilizacija),director Alexander Levshin. The issue features a caricature of operator Mikhailov by the artist Yakov Rivosh; articles about the film Breakaway directed by Yuri Tarich based on V. Kirshon's play "Konstantin Terekhin"; portraits of sisters Lillian Gish,an American actress,director,and screenwriter and Dorothy Gish,an American actress of the screen and stage,as well as a director and writer. Dorothy and her older sister Lillian Gish were major movie stars of the silent era; illustrations by Yuri Pimenov and V Kozlinsky. Published by publishing house Teakinopechat,15 pages. Fair condition,some pages are loose,tears on the spine and cover,browning,pencil marks.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
