Original vintage Constructivist magazine Soviet Theatre, issue number 1, January, 1931. Printed in Moscow by Gos. Izdat. Hud. Lit and Pravda publishing house. Monthly magazine on recent developments in theatre in the USSR. The front cover features a photograph of Vsevolod Meyerhold, a Russian and Soviet theatre director, actor, and theatrical producer. The issue includes articles about plans of the theatres for the new year; the historical role of the Meyerhold Theatre and such his productions as Dawns, Tarelkin's Death, The Forest, Earth with Smoke, Bubus, the Government Inspector; The Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre, and its opera productions of Lysistrata, Perikola, Johnny, North Wind, productions about the revolution of 1905 with photographs of portraits of actors; the State Jewish Theatre and other articles accompanied by photographs and caricatures of the artist Mordmilovich. 33 pages. Poor condition, the spine is loose, tears on the front and back, cover and some pages, creasing, browning.
