"Around the World" the oldest Russian and Soviet magazine focusing on popular science and geography,history,world culture,published since 1861. Cover illustration by V Belkin,a Russian artist and painter. He made a lot of book artwork and was presented at various exhibitions from 1906,both in the former Soviet Union (Moscow,Leningrad) and abroad (Paris, New York, Boston). Among Belkin's notable scores are those for The Decameron, The Three Musketeers, A Hero of Our Time and The Knight in the Panther's Skin. He also worked for famous publishing house Academia. Belkin was a close friend of Alexey Tolstoy and Anna Akhmatova. List of this issue's artwork included illustrations by A Lubimov for the story "Adventure",I Korolev for the story "Notes on the Death of a Steel Scout". Published by "Krasnaya Gazeta",1929. Good condition. Slightly frayed spine,pencil handwriting on the back cover,rubbings. 24 pages.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
