Original vintage reference MGM: When The Lion Roars by Peter Hay,a founding Artistic Director of First Stage in Hollywood and a former professor at the Department of Theatre,Film,and Television at UCLA. The book is dedicated to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios,an American media company,founded in 1924,that produces and distributes feature films and television programs,one of the most famous movie studios. The book is illustrated with hundreds of full-colour and duotone photographs,posters,lobby cards,magazine covers,and other materials from the birth of the studio,and includes information about its creators,such as Louis B. Mayer,a Canadian-American film producer and co-founder of the studios and its personnel. Features photographs and stills from movies of such actors as Gibson Gowland,Ramon Novarro,John Gilbert,Mae Murray,Greta Garbo,Carole Lombard,James Stewart,Irene Dunne,Spencer Tracy. Includes works of such artists as Jacques Kapralik,a Romanian American caricaturist; George Petty,an American pin-up artist. His pin-up art appeared primarily in Esquire and others magazines. Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
