The museum's poster collection became the basis of a major public display in the temporary War Posters Exhibition of 1972 and amounts to 50,000 items. This publication covers posters related to World War Two,which includes more than 20,000 items, and aims to make better known the range and importance of the museum's collection. The majority of the posters are British or published in Britain for circulation abroad; there are also examples of American,Russian,and Nazi posters. The publication includes poster by such designers as Felix Albrecht,John Atherton,Philip Boydell,D Shmaridov,Fougasse,Abram Games,Henri Guignon,Victor Ivanov,Olga Burova,Kukryniksy,Frank Newbould,Fred Taylor,and others. The publication includes chapters covering the most popular topics in posters: veteran humourists,the squander bug,careless talk,medical campaigns,women in posters,animal symbols,and others. Published by The Imperial War Museum,71 pages. Very good condition,minor tears on the spine,stain and browning on the cover.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity. 

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
