Published in association with the exhibition "See USSR" organised by GRAD,June 7 -August 31. Poster art and other publication of Intourist,the state monopoly for "cultured tourism" in the USSR,offer a beguiling alternative image of the Soviet Union. The compelling graphics,historic textiles and authoritative essays in this GRAD publication explore both image and reality. List of artists include Alexander Zhitomirsky,Sergey Sakharov,Olga Eiges,Maria Nesterova,Konstantin Bor-Ramensky and Nikolay Zhukov,People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1955),People’s Artist of the USSR (1963),winner of two Stalin Prize of the second degree (1943,1951),member of the CPSU (b) since 1945,Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1949). A large part of the artist’s work is devoted to the life and work of Lenin,Stalin,the Great Patriotic War. He painted beautiful watercolours,children’s portraits. Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
