Unique publication printed in a run of 5000 copies celebrating the poster art of Nikolay Akimov. Nikolay Akimov (1901-1968) was an experimental theatre director and scenic designer noted for his work with the Leningrad Comedy Theatre. As stated in the flap text,the album "acquaints readers with the artwork of Akimov and its distinctiveness in the field of the art of the theatre poster." An introductory essay by F.Y. Syrkina,accompanied by images of Akimov's posters in black and white,is followed by a catalogue of works in colour. Excellent condition,sporadic stains,dedication in black pen (in Russian,dated 17 May,1965),dust jacket slightly torn in the front,parts of the dust jacket torn off in the back. 106 pages.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
